The J&K Public Service Commission is mulling to revisit the tentative schedule announced for the Combined Competitive Examination-2016 due to prevailing unrest in Kashmir, sources said on Saturday.
The PSC is contemplating to revise the dates for Preliminary and Mains examinations of KAS-2016, they said.
"We will revisit the schedule for both the tests keeping in view all relevant factors so that level-playing field is provided to all candidates," a senior PSC official said.
As per the tentative schedule, the preliminary examination was to be held on September 25 while the Mains would commence from November 01.
The PSC is giving a thought to the proposal of deferring the schedule after Greater Kashmir highlighted that students were not able to fill up the application forms due to strict restrictions and suspension of internet services in Kashmir. Only 4800 students from the Valley have applied for record 277 KAS posts advertised by the PSC while 22000 candidates have applied from Jammu province.
The PSC official also disclosed that online system for receiving applications has been kept open till internet services are restored in Kashmir.
"We will also extend the date for filling up of application forms after internet services are restored," he said.
