The state administrative council (SAC) which met here Tuesday recommended former inspector general of police Jagjit Kumar as member of the J&K Public Service Commission.
A Kashmir police service officer of 1984-batch, Kumar has served at key positions including IG traffic, IG security, IG technical, deputy inspector general of police Udhampur, DIG traffic and senior superintendent of police, Ganderbal.
Jagjit was recommended against the slot left vacant due to completion of term by former PSC member, Lal Chand.
Meanwhile, Dheeraj Gupta, principal resident commissioner, has been posted as principal secretary, housing and urban development department. He will take over the charge from KB Aggarwal, who is retiring by the end of this month.
