Sajad Ahmad Khan son of Ghulam Nabi Khan of Hundoora hamelt of Tral has been detained by the Delhi police.
Sajad and six other detainees had been detained six days ago, like dozens of people in and outside Kashmir following a fidayeen attack on a CRPF convoy on February 14 that killed 42 personnel at Lethpora, Pulwama.
While six of the detainees were released, Sajad has been in the lockup for the past six days in Delhi, leaving his family distraught.
His mother, Fatima Bano, said she lost two of her sons, both militants, within a span of six months last year.
“So we sent Sajad to Delhi in January hoping he would be safe there and also earn for the family. We had not imagined he too would be targeted,” she said.
The family has contacted Tral and Awantipora police stations but couldn’t get any concrete help.
“Sajad and some other Kashmiris were selling shawls in Delhi. I have no means to reach my son,” said Sajad’s father Ghulam Nabi Khan before breaking down.
“First I shouldered the coffins of my two sons and now my lone son, who is innocent, has been detained,” said Khan.
He said Sajad’s sin was that his “two brothers were militants”.
A top police officer told Greater Kashmir, “He (Sajad) is being questioned by the police regarding the Lethpora blast”.
