Srinagar: Henan Malik and Abid Mushtaq shined as J&K senior cricket team registered its first win in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy one day tournament on Sunday.
In the match, J&K handed table-toppers Odisha shock defeat at Dadoji Konddev Stadium, Thane.
It was a complete all-round display by the J & K side as they went on to crush Odisha by 95 run margin. It was the first win for J&K in the tournament after having faced three consecutive defeats.
Earlier J&K batting first time clicked in the tournament as they posted a total of 278 runs for the loss of nine wickets in allotted 50 overs.
Henan Malik was the highest scorer for J&K, scoring 79 run knock from 94 balls. Shubham Khajuria scored 38, Parvez Rasool 30, Shubham Pundir 28 and Abid Mushtaq scored 25 for J&K. Auquib Nabi remained unbeaten on 18 from nine balls. For Odisha Shantanu Mishra and Biplab took two wickets each.
In reply Odisha bundled out for 183 runs in 45 overs. Abhisekh Rawat with 40 and Govinda Poddar with 37 were the highest scorers for them.
For J&K, Abid Mushtaq was phenomenal with the ball, taking five wicket haul in his 10 over quota. Mujtaba Yousuf took two while Auquib Nabi, Parvez Rasool and Ram Dayal took one wicket each.
With this win J&K opened its account on points table by bagging four points.
They still remain at bottom of the table in Elite Group A with only four points while as Odisha are at the top with 12 points. J&K is scheduled to play its next match on December 14 against Vidarbha.
