Srinagar: With another batting failure, J&K suffered its second straight defeat in the ongoing Vijay Hazare Trophy one-day tournament as they lost to Himachal Pradesh at Dadoji Konddev Stadium, Thane, Mumbai on Thursday.
Needing 251 runs to win, J&K inning bundled out for 187 runs total.
Earlier batting first, Himachal Pradesh scored 250 runs for the loss of eight wickets in allotted 50 overs. AB Vashisht with unbeaten 51 was the highest scorer for them while AR Kumar scored 49 and Rishi Dhawan 44. For J&K, Parvez Rasool and Ram Dayal took three wickets each.
In reply, J&K batting once again failed as the whole team bundled out for 187 run total. Himachal Pradesh secured 63 run win and four points. For J&K, Ian Chauhan with 36, Shubham Pundir with 30 and Henan Malik with 26 were the highest scorers.
For Himachal Pradesh, skipper Rishi Dhawan took three wickets while as A Guleria, GK Singh took two wickets each.
After suffering a second straight defeat J&K are now placed at the bottom of the points table in Elite Group A, which comprises six teams. Vidarbha and Odissa are at the top with eight points each.
J&K along with Andhra Pradesh are the only sides in the group, still searching for their first win.
After having a miserable outing in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy tournament , it is turning out as another similar outing for the J & K senior team.
J&K will next take on Andhra Pradesh on December 11.
