Srinagar: J&K senior cricket teams below par performance continued in national events as they ended its campaign in Vijay Hazare Trophy one day tournament with five wicket defeat against Vidarbha at Sharad Pawar Cricket Academy BKC, Mumbai on Tuesday.
It was the fourth defeat for J&K side in the tournament out of five matches played. They ended their campaign by finishing at bottom of points table in Elite Group A and failing to qualify for the next round.
Earlier, batting first, J&K on the back of a fiery 73 run knock from 59 balls by wicketkeeper Fazil Rashid and cautious knock of 50 from 66 balls by Parvez Rasool were able to post 233 runs on board for the loss of all wickets in 49.3 overs. Auquib Nabi contributed with 27. For Vidarbha, YR Thakur and AA Sarvate took three wickets each.
In reply, Vidarbha on the back of an unbeaten 102 run knock scored by skipper FY Fazal achieved the required target in 43 overs for the loss of five wickets. AV Wankhade scored 79 run knock.
For J&K, Ram Dayal took two wickets while Auquib Nabi, Mujtaba Yousuf and Parvez Rasool took one wicket each.
With this defeat J&K have been knocked out of the tournament. They suffered defeats against Gujarat, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Vidarbha while winning against Odisha. With just one win out of five matches played, they finished at bottom of the points table with four points.
In Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy tournament, J&K had suffered a similar fate by winning only one match out of five played.
