Srinagar: Srinagar today witnessed a sharp spike in COVID cases registering nearly 50 percent of the cases reported in Jammu and Kashmir today.

As per the bulletin of J&K Government, 95 people tested positive in J&K in the past 24 hours. Of these, 89 were from Kashmir division while 6 were from Jammu division.

In Kashmir division, Srinagar district continued to have the most burden of the viral infection, reporting 49 cases on the day, constituting over 50 percent of the cases.

As per the official data, currently, there are 451 active cases of COVID19 in J&K and the district has suffered 856 COVID19 deaths till date. The number of active cases in Srinagar is over half of the active cases of Kashmir division. Baramulla and Budgam districts had 10 new cases each.

In the Jammu division, the number of active cases on Sunday was 101. The cumulative cases, yet to recover from the infection, were 902 in J&K on Sunday.

Today, 79 patients were declared as recovered after completion of their 14 day isolation period or following discharge from hospitals.

In the past one day, 38915 COVID19 tests were carried out across the 20 districts of the UT. The positive percentage of samples among these stood at 0.24.

The number of vaccination doses administered on Sunday was 48087, taking the cumulative vaccination to 1,46,39,890.

No new case of Black Fungus was reported today. The day also passed without a casualty attributed to SARS-CoV2. The death toll in the UT is 4432 currently.
