Srinagar: With the mercury rising, people in the summer capital are thronging parks and gardens to get respite from heat.

For the past few days, the Mughal gardens have witnessed a considerable increase in a number of visitors.

Visitors from city areas mostly visit these famous gardens in the evenings.

“We are witnessing an increase in the rush of visitors for past few days. The people come here to get respite from the heat. They love to sit under Chinar tress,” said an official of Shalimar Garden here.

The Hazratbal Shrine vicinity is also witnessing visitors where people also like to go for shikara rides in Dal Lake.

“We had to bear an extreme level of heatwave during the last few days and now it is really pleasant to spent evening time at Boulevard,” said a Mushtaq Ahmad, a Downtown resident, enjoying snacks at Boulevard.

People said that they love to spend time in a serene and calm atmosphere to get relief.

An ice-cream seller at Nishat said that with the number of visitors increasing, they are preparing different varieties of ice-creams.

“As the rush increases, we also do a good business. Individuals, groups and families coming here also like to have ice-creams of their choice,” he said.

Director Floriculture Kashmir Farooq Ahmad Rather said that though the number of visitors have increased, but at the same time all COVID19 safety guidelines are being followed.
