With no letup in prevailing tension on Line of Control in Rajouri and Poonch districts, fresh firing today took place in Nowshera sector of Rajouri and Shahpur area of Poonch.
As per official reports, last night, unprovoked ceasefire violation took place on LoC from Pakistani side in Kalal and Jhanger Nowshera.
“Indian troops deployed along LoC gave effective reply to firing leading to cross border firing which lasted for couple of hours in Nowshera area ” official sources said.
So far, there are no reports of any loss or injury of life in firing on this side of LoC.
On the other hand, cross border firing also took place today in Shahpur Kerni area of Poonch with intense mortar shelling spreading a wave of panic in the entire area.
As per reports, unprovoked ceasefire violation took place from Pak side late today afternoon with Pakistani side also resorted to intense mortar shelling.
“Shells fell in villages close to LoC including Shahpur, Kirni, Mandar and Indian troops also retaliated effectively leading to a fierce exchange of bullets and shells ” official sources said.
Firing and shelling was going on till late evening hours.
