Jammu: A policeman was knocked to death by an unknown vehicle in the Manda area of Jammu late Wednesday night.
Police said that a constable of J&K Police Queem Ali, 42, son of Qasim Din of RagoraMajeen in Sidhra was posted at PaccaDanga Police Station.
“He was hit by an unknown vehicle at Manda last night and critically injured,” Police said. “The vehicle escaped from the spot after the incident.”
He was shifted to the Government Medical College and Hospital (GMC&H), Bakshi Nagar where he succumbed to his injuries.
His body was handed over to his family members for performing last rites after the medico-legal formalities.
Police said that it conducted raids at several locations in Bajalta and identified the accused person responsible for the accident.
A case in this regard has been registered at the PaccaDanga Police Station.
