Prominent religious leader of Ladakh passes away

Ganderbal: Prominent religious leader of Ladakh and senior member of Anjuman-e-Jamiatul Ulema Isna Ashariya Kargil (AJUIAK) Sheikh Hassan Waizie, 73, passed away after a brief illness at his Poyen, Kargil residence on Friday.

Hundreds of people Saturday participated in his funeral held at Inqilab Manzil where the Nimaz-e-Jinaza was led by President AJUIAK Ladakh Shiekh Nazir Mehdi Muhammadi and later buried at his ancestral graveyard at Hunderman, Kargil.

   

Waizie acquired his basic education from the Islamic School of Ayatullah Sheikh Muhammad Ali Brolmo Najafi and after that went for higher studies to Najaf Ashraf where he learned Higher Islamic Studies at Hozia Najaf Ashraf for years and returned to his home place for disseminating Islamic teachings.

He remained a member of AJUIAK Ladakh and also offered his services as a teacher at Hozia Ilmiya Kargil.

Waizie remained the Imam Jumma Kargil and Qazi Kargil and in his last year was a trustee of AJUIAK Ladakh. Various religious, social, and political organisations condoled the demise of Waizie and termed it a great loss.

President AJUIAK Ladakh Muhammadi condoled the demise of Waizi and prayed for his heavenly abode. He said that his demise was a great loss to society at large and AJUIAK in particular.

Chairman and Chief Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Kargil, Feroz Ahmad Khan, former chairman J&K Legislative Council and senior BJP leader from Ladakh Haji Anayat Ali, Executive Councillors, LAHDC Councillors, former CEC Kacho Ahmad Ali Khan, Chairman Imam Khomeini Memorial Trust Sheikh Sadiq Rajaie, Anjuman Shab Zaman, Maktab Imam Raza, and several other religious and political figures condoled Waizie’s demise.
