Jammu: The Anti-Corruption Bureau Thursday arrested the Executive Engineer, Rural Development Department (RDD), Ramban for accepting a bribe of Rs 4,000 for releasing payments for the work done under MGNREGA.
A statement of ACB issued here said that it received a complaint alleging that RDD Ramban Xen Madan Lal Chadgal was initially demanding a bribe of Rs 5000 from the complainant for releasing his payments for the work done under MGNREGA in Ramban.
It said that the ACB conducted a discreet verification and based on findings offenses under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act 1988 (as amended in 2018) were found against Chadgal and an FIR was registered against him.
“During the investigation, a trap team was constituted that laid a successful trap and caught red-handed Chadgal while demanding and accepting a bribe of 4000 from the complainant in his file. ACB arrested the accused on the spot,” the statement said.
