Traffic movement restored near Zojilla: Police

Srinagar: Police today said the vehicular traffic movement was restored near Zojilla on Srinagar- Leh highway last night after the road had got blocked due to slippery road surface.

A spokesman said police in Ganderbal acted swiftly to restore the movement of traffic. The road surface had turned extremely slippery due to inclement weather and the slippery road surface was causing vehicles to skid and block the highway during late night hours.

The spokesman said, “A police party led by SHO Sonamarg arrived at the spot along with a hired Crane and cleared the road. Other senior officers including SDPO Kangan Yasir Qadri-JKPS were supervising the rescue efforts on the spot.

After hectic efforts, Police managed to restore the road and make it through for the vehicular movement.”

He added that whosoever intends to travel on Sonamarg-Kargil road to should verify the road conditions from police control room (PCR) Ganderbal on phone numbers, 9906668731, 9419371774, 0194-2416478 and 0194-2416564.
