Tarigami condoles demise of PDD daily wager

Srinagar, June 13: CPI (M) leader Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami has condoled the demise of Sartaj Ahmad Sheikh, son of Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Sheikh of Hanand, Chawalgam a daily wage employee of Power Development Department (PDD), who got electrocuted on Saturday afternoon while repairing transmission line in Chawalgam area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam and succumbed to his injuries at SMHS Srinagar on Sunday.

In a statement issued here, Tarigami said that the deceased Sartaj was the lone bread earner of his family. “As such, the administration must provide compensation to the family of the victim. He demanded an inquiry into the incident to ascertain the facts, how the deceased got electrocuted while repairing the line when the power supply had cut off,” the statement reads.

He urged the administration to release pending wages of all daily wagers, casual labourers working in PDD and their genuine demand for regularisation must be speeded up.
