Thousands of people on Saturday participated in the last rites of three civilians killed in forces' firing in Hawoora village of Redwani in south Kashmir's Kulgam district.
An eye witness said that fifteen rounds of funeral prayers were held for the slain civilians at a school ground in Hawoora village. Thousands of people participated in the prayers, he said.
A group of militants appeared in the funeral several times and offered a gun-salute to the slain.
Three civilians, Shakir Ahmad (22), Irshad Majid (20) and Andleeb Jan (16), were killed after forces opened fire on protesters in Hawoora village during clashes.
Reports said that the protesters pelted a forces' party with stones to disrupt an anti-militant operation. The forces, they said, responded by opening fire, resulting into death of three persons and injuries to at least five others.
