Srinagar, June 11: Around hundred traders and workers at Regal Chowk market here were administered COVID19 vaccination during a camp established by Srinagar district administration.
During this day-long camp, exclusively established for vaccination of traders and their employees, authorities urged upon people to strictly follow COVID19 safety guidelines.
The traders and their employees maintained social distancing and followed other safety guidelines while attending the camp for vaccination.
“We are thankful to the district administration for establishing this much needed camp. Fight against COVID19 is our collective effort and we shall overcome the pandemic,” said Farhan Kitab, President Retailers Association Kashmir.
He said that the efforts of Deputy Commissioner Ajaz Assad are appreciable as all measures taken by him have shown good results in fighting against coronavirus.
“We thank DC Srinagar for enlisting retail employees in the list of frontline workers and establishing this camp,” he added.
He informed that a few days back, the camp was also established by district administration at Regal Chowk market for the traders whose business units were open that day as per roaster.
“On Thursday, the left out traders and their employees were functioning in the market as per roaster. Hence, all traders and employees associated with Regal Chowk market have been administered vaccination,” he said.
District administration Srinagar has been aggressively carrying out vaccination drives and reaching out people to ensure no one is left without the vaccination.
Eighty four percent of health workers in Srinagar have received COVID19 vaccination while the vaccination process for the people between the age group of 18 to 45 years is going on aggressively.
“With COVID19 vaccination in full swing across the district, people facing sectors like retail and trade are being administered vaccination at door steps. Vaccination is the protection against the novel coronavirus,” said an official.
He added that retailers and traders are at risk of COVID19 infection due to their constant exposure to public spaces.
Vaccination drive against the novel coronavirus disease began in Jammu and Kashmir on 16 January, this year, with two inaugural ceremonies in Jammu city and Srinagar respectively. The phase-II of the scheme began on 25 May for the 18-45 age category in Jammu and Kashmir.
Health care workers and frontline COVID19 warriors were covered under Phase-I of vaccination in J&K.
