Urs of Hazrat Mirak Shah Kashani (RA), Hazrat Mian Nizamuddin Kiyanawi (RA)

Srinagar, June 6: National Conference (NC) President Farooq Abdullah Sunday greeted people on the 51st annual Urs of Hazrat Mirak Shah Kashani (RA) calling him a towering spiritual personality of Kashmir who contributed endlessly for the spiritual upliftment of human beings irrespective of their caste and creed.

In a statement issued here, the NC president said Kashani, an epitome of grace and spirituality, was known for his severity in prayers and supplications.

   

He said the Islamic mysticism had been the cultural mainstay of Kashmiri since the advent of Islam in Kashmir and that the cultural, social and political life of the people of Kashmir had been greatly fashioned by the teachings of such towering personalities, who during the breadth of their worldly lives strived to guide people towards penance and god consciousness.

“These great men were people of great devotion, selflessness and austerity. He belonged to the tribe of great men who took immense pains to guide the footsteps of Kashmiris towards righteousness with self example. On the Urs observance of Hazrat Mirak Sahib (RA), I pay him my earnest and rich tributes and pray to almighty Allah that the day acts as a harbinger of peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir. The youth of today and the coming generations have a lot to imbibe from the teachings of such great men. Urs like these resuscitate this mainstream cultural identity of ours which has guided us all, and our past generations bound them together with unity and companionship,” he said.

The NC president also greeted people on the Urs of Hazrat Mian Nizam Ud Din Kiyanvi (RA).

He said Kiyanvi was also a great polymath and physical manifestation of philosophical astuteness and penance. “I pay my earnest tributes to Hazrat Kiyanavi (RA) and pray that the Urs fosters long lasting peace and prosperity in Jammu and Kashmir,” the NC president said.

He also appreciated the Sajjada Nisheen of Darbar Baba Ji Larvi Mian Bashir Ahmed Sahib for cancelling the annual Urs this year in view of the prevailing Covid-19 crisis.

The NC president said that the Urs normally witnesses participation of lakhs of devotees who throng the revered shrine from different parts of the country.
