Week long Workshop on Research Trends in IT concludes at IUST

A  weeklong national faculty development programme (FDP) on 'Research Trends in Information Technology' was held at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST).

The workshop was organized in collaboration with departments of computer science (DoCS) and department of computer science engineering (DCSE). The workshop was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor (VC) IUST Prof. Mushtaq A Siddiqi who is also chief patron FDP. Deliberations on machine learning, soft computing, data science, artificial intelligence, image processing and recognition, cognitive science, computational complexity, data mining, deep learning, IOT, natural language processing (NLP) and communication were held during the various technical sessions of the event.

During the valedictory session, Professor IIT Roorkee, Dr. Partha Pratim Roy who was the Guest of Honour described the workshop as a successful framework saying that it helped participants understand the conceptual base during the theoretical sessions and reinforced their learning through programming exercises.

Professor IIT Allahabad Uma Shanker Tiwary applauded the efforts of the IUST and said the institution was going in the right direction toward educational excellence. "I am particularly impressed by the enthusiasm of faculty here," he said. Prof. Vasudha Bhatnagar (Delhi University) also spoke at the occasion.

On the occasion, co-convener and head DoSC Dr. Rumaan Bashir expressed satisfaction over the workshop and extended his gratitude to VC IUST, dean academic affairs, Registrar IUST, Patron FDP and others. Certificates were also distributed among the participants and organizing committee members on the concluding ceremony on the event.
