Srinagar, May 04: Two pilots and a technician were injured after an ALH Dhurav helicopter crashed near Sumber-Machna area of Marwah tehsil in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kishtwar district on Thursday morning, army said.
The helicopter which was on an operational mission tried to make a precautionary landing after developing a technical snag on the banks of Marwah river in the Kishtwar region of Jammu and Kashmir, an Army handout said.
Both the injured pilots and technician, who are said to be out of danger, have been shifted to Military Hospital Udhampur.
A handout issued by PRO defence Jammu Col Anand which he attributed to Northern Command read: “As per inputs, the pilots had reported a technical fault to the Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and proceeded for a precautionary landing. Due to the undulating ground, undergrowth and unprepared landing area, the helicopter apparently made a hard landing.”
“Immediate rescue operations were launched and Army rescue teams reached the site.Two pilots and a technicianwere on board. All three injured personnel have been evacuated to Command Hospital, Udhampur,” handout added.
“A Court of Inquiry has been ordered. Further details are being ascertained.”
