BJP councilor’s killing: police bars protectees from traveling without PSOs, security clearance

Srinagar June 3: Police has barred protected persons from moving out of the secure accommodations without the Personal Security Officers (PSOs) provided to them.

A police spokesperson quoting IGP Kashmir, Vijay Kumar said that the visits of the protectees will be allowed only after ground assessment of local threat.

The latest police advisory comes after a BJP councilor from Tral area in south Kashmir’s Pulwama was shot dead by militants last night when he had gone to a friend’s home.

Police said that the slain, Rakesh Pandita had left behind two PSOs allotted to him at his Srinagar accommodation.

“No protectee should go anywhere without PSOs. Visits are allowed only after ground assessment of local threat is done. Request is to all protectees not to #violate SOPs and risk their lives unnecessarily, ” reads the police advisory quoting IGP Kashmir.
