Dilapidated roads

A number of roads in Srinagar city are in a dilapidated condition. The vehicular and pedestrian movement is affected adversely on these roads. The roads at Nawab Bazar area are in a bad shape.

According to the residents the roads have potholes and cracks for the last several months causing lot of inconvenience to them. The residents have filled the potholes with stones and debris. Some vehicles suffer damage during their movement. The movement of pedestrians becomes more difficult after evening if the street lights are not functioning due to power curtailment.

   

The shopkeepers say that because of the bad condition of roads their business is suffering. Some months back drains were laid in the locality. But the roads were not repaired. The people are unhappy with the delay in the repair.

They demand the repairing of roads without any further delay. Their demand should be met at the earliest. Not only at Nawab Bazar but in other areas also where the residents face such problems, the roads must be repaired.

Having better roads is very important for smooth movement. Under Srinagar Smart City Project the roads at a number of places were given a new look, which is being appreciated by the people. But other roads must get proper attention also.

If a road is in a dilapidated condition the concerned authorities must immediately get it repaired. They should not wait for weeks and months together. Such approach creates problems for the people and must be therefore avoided.

Reports say that several roads in towns and rural areas are in bad shape. Those too must be repaired without any delay. Roads in bad condition sometimes lead to accidents.

Several people have lost their lives in roads accidents on dilapidated roads in hilly areas. These accidents can be minimised if the condition of roads is improved.
