DM Rajouri bans drones

Rajouri, June 30: In the backdrop of recent attack at Jammu’s Technical Airport suspected to have been carried out using drones, District Magistrate Rajouri has banned use, sale, storage, possession and transportation of drones, aerial objects and flying toys in the district asking owners having such objects already to deposit the same in local police stations.

The order has been issued by District Magistrate Rajouri, Rajesh K Shavan.

   

The government agencies using drones for mapping, surveys and surveillance have also been asked to inform respective police stations and executive magistrate of such use.

In a statement, DM Rajouri said that the ban has been imposed as in recent times anti-national elements used drones and flying objects to cause damage, injury and risk to the human lives in certain parts of the Union Territory.

“It has been observed that in last 10-15 years, the use of small camera-fitted drones have increased but in present situation, it is important to avoid any confusion and to secure aerial space near the vital installation and highly populated areas, it is reasonable to discontinue the use of any drone, small flying toys, objects in all social and cultural gatherings to eliminate any risk,” DM Rajouri said.
