Fire and fury corps celebrates 71st Army day

On occasion of the 71st Army Day, Lieutenant General YK Joshi, General Officer Commanding, Fire & Fury Corps laid a wreath at the Leh war memorial today to pay homage to the soldiers of the Indian Army who laid down their lives in the line of duty, an Army spokesman said.   

He said that all ranks of Fire and Fury Corps and Leh Garrison were present for the solemn ceremony.

   

The GOC Joshi while speaking on the occasion said that Army day is an important event. “The Army  day is celebrated in recognition of Lieutenant General KM Cariappa, later Field Marshal KM Cariappa, OBE, taking over as the first Commander-In-Chief of the Indian Army from Sir Francis Butcher on 15 Jan 1949,” he added.
