Hajin area in Bandipora district continues to remain a Covid19 hotspot with badly affected villages like Gundjahangir, Naidkhai, Batgund, Sudurkoot and Hajin township.
The chain started when 4 youths of the area returned fromNizamuddin on March 25. Only a week later, the first case tested positive.Within no time, the virus gripped the entire Tehsil.
“Although, we made every effort to stop the virus fromspreading, but we could not break the chain. Over the last few days, the numberof cases testing positive is increasing,” said a health official.
He described the situation in Gundjahangir as extremelyworrisome, this hamlet has 45 positive cases out of 71 in the Hajin catchment.
An official said the family members of all positive caseshave been strictly asked to be under home quarantine.
“Their samples have been collected for testing,” said ahealth official. He said today 7 members of a family were tested positive,which is quite alarming.
“Mehraj-Ud-Din, a Revenue Official said, “We have directionsto make sure that those coming from outside are identified and quarantined.”
