Jamaat-e-Islami ban |Tribunal to hold sittings at HC complex Srinagar

In pursuance with Jammat-e-Islami ban, the Unlawful Activities Prevention Tribunal will hold sittings at High Court Complex, Srinagar next week on June 19, 20 and 21, an official spokesperson said on Friday.

The tribunal is being presided over by Delhi High CourtJudge Justice Chander Shekhar.

   

“Accordingly, all those interested in giving evidence mayfile their affidavit (in duplicate) with Registrar Unlawful Activities(Prevention) Tribunal, Delhi High Court Building, Sher Shah Road, New Delhi andshall remain present in person on the aforementioned dates forcross-examination, if any, before the Tribunal,” the spokesperson said.

The government of India on March 6 had ordered ban on thesocio-religious organisation based in Kashmir. 

The ban order, issued by the Union Home Ministry had saidthat the JeI has been “indulging in activities which are prejudicial tointernal security and public order and (have) potential of disrupting the unityand integrity of the country”.
