JAMMU BUS STAND ATTACK: Police clueless, no CCTV footage of grenade blast

A day after suspected militants carried out a grenade attack at the busy bus stand here, police were clueless about who the ‘militants’ could be.

Two policemen and a civilian were injured when the assailants lobbed and exploded a powerful grenade at a police vehicle late Thursday night near a main bus city bus stand, and escaped in the dark.

There are no CCTV cameras in the area.

“We don’t have any CCTV footage available with us,” SSP Jammu, Vivek Gupta told Greater Kashmir.

“It was a militant attack, a powerful grenade was used but as of now we are absolutely clueless as to who carried out the attack and how many people they were,” Gupta said.

The top police officer said it was possible the attackers still in the city.

“A hunt for them has been launched.”

The city has been put on high alert, special checkpoints were being set up as the hunt was underway.
