Kashmir Civilian killings: Bhaderwah observes shutdown

In protest against civilian killings in Kashmir and demanding justice for Asifa, almost a complete peaceful bandh was today observed in Bhaderwah.

A protest demonstration was also held in the town. The bandh call was given by Anjuman Islamia Bhaderwah.

   

Normal life was paralyzed in Bhadarwah as all the shops and other business establishments of majority community remained closed for the day, while vehicles also remained off the roads.

The protesters also blocked the road outside Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah due to which vehicular movement remained disrupted for around an hour.

The bandh was observed in protest against the civilian killings on this day in 1990 and also in protest against the recent killings in Kashmir Valley and murder and rape of an eight year old girl of Rasana, Asifa.

After Friday prayers, a large number of people gathered outside Markazi Jamia Masjid Bhadarwah and held protest raising slogans against the collation government alleging “complete surrender of the government before the RSS”.

Protesters alleged that recent killings of innocent civilians in Kashmir are carried out on the behest of RSS”.

They also raised slogans against Bar Association Jammu for calling Jammu bandh claiming that that bandh was in support of the accused.

“Today’s bandh is being observed to remember the martyrs of 1990. This is the darkest day in the history of Bhadarwah as on this particular day in 1990 peaceful protesters were fired upon by security forces and some fanatics killed several innocent people at Seri Bazaar Bhaderwah. We can never forget those innocent people who sacrificed their lives on this day,” said Pervez Ahmed Sheikh, president of Anjuman Islamia Bhadarwah.

“Today’s bandh is also against recent civilian killings in Kashmir Valley and to seek justice for 9-year old nomadic girl Asifa, who was murdered and raped,” president of Anjuman Islamia said.

Meanwhile, as a precautionary measure, extra deployment of security personnel was made in Bhadarwah town and it’s peripheral areas but bandh was peaceful as no untoward incident was reported from anywhere.

As per reports,  Doda, Kishtwar, Gandoh and other parts of Chenab valley also observed complete shutdown over the Kashmir killings and for justice to Asifa.
