KCCI elections: ‘United-21- announces its contestants for executive committee

As the elections for the executive committee of the Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry are coming closer, the two groups of contestants have formally released their list of candidates contesting for executive membership of the chamber. 

As the KCCI executive committee constitutes of 21 members, the two groups have called their selected 42 members as ‘United-21’ and the ‘Credible-21’.

   

The United-21 panel of contestants for upcoming elections on Sunday formally released their list of contesting candidates. 

The contesting members are: Dr Abdul Majid Mir of Cashmere Marketing Agencies, Abdul Wahid Malik of Hotel New Park, Adil Hussain of Mir Handicrafts, AfaqSarwar Malik of The Farooq Trading Co, Arifa Jan of Incredible Kashmiri Craft, Babar Chowdhary of Hat Trick Yellow, Chowdhary Mohd Shahid of Chowdhary Mohd Shahid & Co, Farooq Amin of Kanwal Foods & Spices Pvt Ltd, Feroz Ahmad Mir of HK Cements Industries Pvt Ltd, Ghulam NabiBhat of Umar Carpet Factory, Irfan Ahmad Guju of I A MultiventuresPvt Ltd, Manzoor A Pakhtoon of Silk Route Holidays, Mustaq Ahmad Beigh of Srinagar Collection, Nasir Hamid Khan of Sunfresh Supermarkets, Parveez Ahmad Bhat of RabbaniImpex, Parvez Ahmad Naqash of Akbar Art Gallery, Sajid Farooq Shah of Comrade Inn Pvt Ltd, Sheikh Ashiq Ahmad of Alkhuddam Travels Pvt Ltd and Sheikh Gowhar Ali of Star C&S

According to a statement, while making the announcement, the convener of United-21 stated that their panel would be focused on unity and harmony in the business community. 

“The panel is a humble attempt to provide the member of the KCCI as well as all the business community with a team which is balanced in every respect,” said the convenor. “United-21 has a mixture of leaders from various sectors and of all age groups. The panel is a blend of group leaders, sector and youth leaders who have excelled in their respective fields and believe that Unity is the key to any move to resurrect our economy,” claimed the convenor in the statement. 

The convener appealed to the members of the KCCI to ensure that they participate in the polling scheduled for Saturday, September 22 at the Government Arts Emporium, Srinagar. He stated that it was incumbent upon the members of KCCI to wisely evaluate all the 42 contesting candidates and elect a team which they think can best serve the interests of trade, commerce and industry. 

According the statement, in the interest of unity, two contesting candidates in the elections namely Asif Siddique of Hotel York, Dalgate and Mubarik Hussain Keng of Mish Mash, Residency Road have withdrawn in favour of the United 21 panel.
