Kidney transplant nursing held at SKIMS Soura

Department of Urology and Kidney transplant unit at SKIMS Soura here today organized one day ‘Kidney transplant nursing update’ at the institute’s seminar hall.

This program was organised in collaboration with Dr Reddy’s Foundation for Health Education. This program was done with the aim of developing various soft skills like, interpersonal skills, counseling skills, communication skills, service orientation and stress management in nurses.

   

Bela Goyal from Dr Reddy’s foundation for health education conducted the day long update in which nurses from K.T.U and Urology operation theatre participated. The program was inaugurated by Dr Omar J Shah, director and ex-officio secretary to Government. He complimented the department of Urology and K.T.U for this initiative and said that this program will help the nurses to develop into better healthcare givers.

Dr M Saleem Wani, HOD Urology and K.T.U introduced the program to the participants and said that this update will metamorphise the behavior of nurses towards patients resulting in increased patient satisfaction. Dr Saleem Wani further said that the nurses have a pivotal role in complimenting the endeavors of the doctors and this skill development program will be hugely beneficial in day to day affairs of nursing. He further said that this certificate course is a four module programme.

Prof Mehmooda Regu, principal Madre-Meherban institute of Nursing and Research hoped that this program will benefit the nurses and the end result will be an emancipated nursing staff.

Dr Arif Hamid additional professor Urology, who was the organizing secretary of the program, said that this initiative will lead to many benefits like giving new insight to the nursing care.
