Kishtwar Police arrest absconding SPO, stolen weapon recovered from hideout

Kishtwar Police in a joint operation with troops of 11 RR in Marwah area has arrested the absconding SPO of Police Station Marwah who fled away two days back after stealing the AK-47 of a constable.  

While divulging details in a press conference at District Police Headquarters Kishtwar, the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kishtwar, Abrar Chowdhary said that on 20-01-2018, one SPO Mohd. Yaseen (SPO No. 1292), posted in Police Station Marwah deserted the Police Station after stealing the AK-47 service weapon of one constable Mushtaq Ahmed of Police Station Marwah and left into Nowapachi forests to join militant ranks.

   

An FIR under relevant provisions of law was registered and various teams were constituted to apprehend the SPO, he said.

The police party led by SHO Police Station Marwah, Inspector Farooq Khateeb and Dy SP Operations, Kishtwar, Nissar Khoja along with the parties of 11 RR led by Major Vijay Raj Purohit, under the supervision of SSP Kishtwar Abrar Chowdhary, cordoned off the Kachpeth forests and during the combing operations, the SPO Mohd Yaseen along with his accomplice Reyaz Khandey resident of Methwan,  Marwah, was arrested, the SSP said.

The stolen weapon was also recovered. The Police arrested the duo and has recovered all the logistic items accumulated by the duo in the newly constructed hideout. 

Abrar Chowdhary revealed that the newly cracked module was aimed at reviving the militancy in the Chenab region.
