Leopard cub captured in Rajouri village

A man from Gurdhan Chawa village of Rajouri captured a leopard cub on Tuesday morning and handed it over to the department of wild life conservation.

Mohammad Showkat said that he was going to a well located in the village. “Suddenly a leopard cub hiding in bushes attacked me,” he said adding that he received minor injuries in the attack.

   

However, the cub was over-powered by the man and later brought in the office of wild life conservation department where it was lodged in an animal cage.

An officer of wild life department said that the animal would be sent back in its natural habitat.

Man-animal conflicts in Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi districts have always remained a cause of concern with several major incidents took place in Mahore and Chassana villages of Reasi district.
