Mahindra beats Bharat Benz as 3rd-largest HCV seller in Dec

Home-grown Commercial Vehicle maker Mahindra Truck and Bus has outsold BharatBenz, the Indian arm of Daimler AG in the HCV segment (equal to or greater than 25 Tons GVW), said a Mahindra spokesman, in a statement.

Both the CV makers are competing to dislodge the existing duopoly of Indian CV Industry, Tata and Ashok Leyland.

Mahindra Truck and Bus sold 1,193 units in December 2017, growing at a whopping rate of 151 per cent, compared to the same month last year, whereas BharatBenz sold 1,126 units, thereby making Mahindra, the No 3 player.

It is believed that the primary reason behind the rise and rise of Mahindra in HCVs is attributed to the stupendous success and wide acceptance of its newly launched BLAZO range of fuel efficient Trucks and Tippers, particularly the BSIV version featuring airless SMART SCR Technology.
