Congress today condemned the killing of a youth Gowher Ahmad Rather of Kangan by police saying “innocent civilian killings can deteriorate situation in Kashmir.”
Congress also asked the government to provide compensation to family of Gowher Ahmad Rather and other civilians killed due to firing. In a statement, the J&K Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) spokesperson said “ruling dispensation in the State cannot escape the responsibility of loss of precious lives in Kashmir.”
Meanwhile, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) leader and MLC, Yasir Reshi also condemned the killing of Kangan youth in police action. Reshi said that the committee constituted by the government to investigate the matter should complete its investigation within the time frame. MLA Sopore, Haji Abdul Rasheed Dar, also condemned the killing of Kangan youth.
