MANASBAL BLAST: Another accused slapped with PSA

The police have booked another person allegedly involved in carrying out an explosion in the famed Manasbal Park in Ganderbal district on June 17 under the Public Safety Act.

Senior superintendent of police Ganderbal Muhammad Khalid Poswal said that the accused, Bilal Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Rasool of Cheshmai Manasbal, was arrested in the case filed vide FIR No. 20/2018 at police station Safapora. He was under arrest but has now been booked under PSA and shifted to Kotbalwal jail in Jammu, he said.

A police official claimed that the accused was involved in the blast case as well as “other law and order cases.”

“The accused is a chronic stone-pelter and was indulging in encouraging and instigating youth to resort to stone-pelting on security agencies,” the official alleged.

Bilal is the second person to be booked under PSA after the blast took place at Manasbal Park on 17th June this year. Soon after the incident in which at least 13 persons suffered injuries, a case under sections 307, 3/4 of the Explosive Substance Act was registered at police station Safapora and a team was constituted for speedy investigations.

During initial investigations, three suspects including Bilal from Kondbal Mansbal were rounded up and following their interrogation, they confessed that they planned and executed the blast by preparing an explosive substance from gelatin and other explosive material mostly used at stone quarries, the police claimed. Two of the accused arrested worked at a stone quarry in the district. Later another accused was arrested and booked under PSA.
