Met office predicts more snow, rains

The meteorological department has predicted more snow and rains across Kashmir on Tuesday.

A Met department official said snow and rain occurred at some places in the Valley last night.

   

From Sunday morning onward, Gulmarg recorded 15 mm of rain followed by Kupwara 14 mm, Batote 8 mm and Pahalgam 6 mm.

He said Pahalgam and Gulmarg recorded minus 0.5 and minus 4.5 degree Celsius respectively as last night’s minimum temperatures. In Ladakh, Leh was at minus 5.9, Kargil minus 13 and Drass minus 10.6 degree Celsius.

Jammu recorded 10.6, Katra 8.2, Batote 0.3, Bannihal 1.4 and Bhaderwah 1.1 degree Celsius.

The Jammu-Srinagar highway was open for one-way traffic on Monday. Traffic moved from Srinagar to Jammu.

“But many vehicles are yet to cross the Ramsoo-Ramban stretch of the highway. Once they do so, traffic will be allowed from Jammu to Srinagar on Tuesday,” a traffic official said.
