Militants on Wednesday opened fire on army soldiers launching a cordon-and-search-operation (CASO) in a village in south Kashmir’s Shopian district.

Reports said that the army men were laying siege around Chek-e-Choland village of the district when they were fired at by the militants.

Following the incident, reinforcements were rushed to the village, said an official.
