Mother-son duo among 6 arrested with narcotics, booze in Reasi: Police

Jammu, June 17: A mother-son duo among six persons were arrested in a drug peddling case in different places of Reasi district, Police said Thursday.

Police said that during surprise checking at a check point at Jamslan road connecting Mahore area with Ramban, a team of Police Station Mahore intercepted the notorious drug peddler Shafiq Ahmed, son of Abdul Jabbar of Dhamni Chassana from Jamslan Mahore and recovered 1.04 kg charas from his possession.

   

He has been booked under FIR No 35 of 2021 under section 8/20 NDPS Act at Police Station Mahore.

Meanwhile, a team of Police Station Katra raided and searched the house of the most notorious drug peddler in the locality, Karamat Ali of Paroh in Katra on his disclosure and recovered 100 grams of charas from the house.

Accordingly, Karamat was arrested in a drug peddling case.

Another team of Police conducted a series of raids against illicit liquor in district Reasi, lodged four FIRs and arrested five bootleggers red-handed.

All of them were booked under Excise Act while 10 liters of illicit liquor and 35 litres of lahan was seized and destroyed on the spot.

A team of Police Station Ransoo conducted series of raids in Ransoo area and arrested bootlegger Sanjay Kumar of ward No 9 Katla tehsil Pouni and recovered 3 litres of illicit liquor (hooch) from his possession for which FIR No 8/2021 U/S 48 (a) was registered under the Excise Act against the criminal at Police Station Ransoo.

Acting on a specific information, a team of Police Station Ransoo raided the house of Sham Lal of Kotla and during the raid two liters of illicit liquor were recovered from his house.

In Bhambla jurisdiction, Police said a bootlegger Shoshi Kumar of Dadowa Pouni was arrested along with three litres of hooch by the team of Police Post Bhambla during the raids.

A case under FIR No 34 of 2021 under section 48 (a) Excise Act is registered at Police Station Pouni.

Police said that the officials of the Police Post Dansal carried separate raids on the house of one Prem Singh and registered an FIR No 60 of 2021 under sections 48 (a)(e), 50 Excise Act and arrested two bootleggers.

The arrested bootleggers were identified as Prem Singh and his mother of Dhansal and recovered two litres of illicit liquor from their possession and destroyed 35 litres of Lahan on the spot.

Under the drive, Police said 74 FIRs had been registered against 93 offenders in Reasi in the last week of March.
