Penalty for not wearing masks in public places in J&K revised

Jammu: J&K government on Tuesday revised the penalty for the persons not wearing masks in public places from earlier Rs 500 to “Rs 200 for the first offence and Rs 500 for the second and subsequent offence.”

The penalty has been revised by the J&K Health and Medical Education (HME) Department by amending its earlier notification S.O 230 issued on July 20, 2020.

   

As per the amendment, the penalty of ‘Rs 500’ has been substituted by ‘Rs 200 for the first offence and Rs 500 for the second and subsequent offence.”

The notification S.O 429 issued by the Additional Chief Secretary HME Department Vivek Bhardwaj stated that the revised expression was substituted on the direction of the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir “In exercise of the powers conferred by section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (3 of 1897).”
