Potholed roads trouble commuters, residents in Rangreth

Several potholes on the road stretch at Rangreth is causing inconvenience to hundreds of commuters and residents of the area. The local residents and commuters complained that the concerned authority has not undertaken repair work of road despite many complaints filed by locals.

Locals said that despite several complaints to officials, no action was taken on ground. “We have been complaining repeatedly for a year now but no one has taken cognisance. When medical emergencies crop up, patients face hardships and their condition deteriorates when they use roads like this to reach the city hospitals,” said Dada Rafiq, a local resident. “Authorities should immediately repair the road to prevent more accidents.”

   

Locals and commuters also complained that potholes have caused several accidents on the Rangreth road. “The potholes are located at centre and roadside. Mostly they are not visible and the driver can only see them from a very closer range when it is not possible to control the vehicle by applying brakes,” said Altaf Ahmad, a local resident.

Drivers of public transport vehicles said that the risk of accidents has increased on the road as they find it difficult to negotiate several potholes. “It’s also risky while driving to avoid these potholes as there are many of them. Motorists face more danger while trying to dodge these potholes,” said Ashiq Ahmad, a regular commuter on the road.

Locals and commuters have demanded immediate repairing of this dilapidated portion of road.
