In disregard to government instructions, some private coaching centres here are conducting morning classes.
After they had been banned for some time for violating norms, the private coaching centres were allowed by the school education department to resume functioning on certain conditions including that no morning classes would be conducted and the fee charged will be received in three to four installments from the students.
The directions were issued after the government revoked its order for suspension of academic activities in the private coaching centres.
However, some coaching centres have violated the department guidelines following which the authorities have issued strict warning to the institutions.
A circular issued by director school education Kashmir (DSEK) G N Itoo reads: “It has once again come to the notice of directorate that various private coaching/tuition centres are conducting classes early in the morning.”
The schools have been informed through the circular that their action is in conflict with the assurances their representatives gave in the meeting on 28 April with education department.
Complaints are also pouring into the directorate that private coaching centres are charging one time advance fee from students which is gross violation of government directions issued from time to time.
In view of the complaints, the directorate has questioned the role of the respective district monitoring committees headed by additional deputy commissioners, which had been constituted in terms of government order no. 1052-GAD of 2015, to supervise the functioning of the private coaching centres in their respective areas. “Receiving of the complaints at the directorate shows that the district monitoring committees are not doing their work,” sources said.
