Public transport banned at G’bl

Amid the COVID-19 threat, the administration on Thursday banned public transport in Ganderbal district.

“In furtherance of the preventive measures already taken indistrict Ganderbal to contain the spread of COVID-19…no public transport shallply in district till 31st of March,” reads an order issued by the districtmagistrate, Shafqat Iqbal.

   

The order shall be strictly enforced by ARTO Ganderbal, DySPtraffic Ganderbal, police, executive magistrates in the areas of theirjurisdiction forthwith, it reads.

An official said the order was issued as a precautionarymeasure to prevent the spread of novel Coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the officials at different public placesparticularly markets, bus stands in Kangan and Ganderbal towns were seenenforcing the orders imposed under section 144.

In Kangan, a team of officials including sub divisionalmagistrate, Hakim Tanvir; SDPO, Sheikh Tahir; Tehsildar, Muhammad Aslam; SHOKangan, Aftab Ahmed and food safety officer, Fayaz Ahmed carried a sanitizationdrive and were seen enforcing the order.
