Rape case registered against man in Banihal

Ramban, Feb 25: A rape case was registered against a government employee from Banihal on Sunday, Police said.

Police said the 18-year-old victim along with her father (names withheld) of Soof Shali Kokernag, Anantnag lodged a written complaint at Police Station Banihal alleging that Shakir Ahmad took the girl into confidence that he would give her employment.

   

According to the complaint, after that Ahmad accompanied and engaged her as a domestic help in the house of Yawar Amin and Shobi Begum of Banihal and fixed Rs 6000 as a monthly honorarium.

“After 18 days, Shobi Begum left home for Jammu in connection with some work and told the domestic help that she would return after three days but instead of three days, she spent 13 days in Jammu.  In between these 13 days, the victim fell ill and told her owner Amin that she was not feeling well,” the complaint read. “On the same evening, Amin gave her some drug (tablet) and after taking the medicine the victim went to sleep in her room.”

The complaint read that the next day when she woke up, she saw herself without clothes and also found the door of her room open and found out that Amin had raped her.

Police registered a case FIR No 29/2024 under Sections 420, 376, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at Police Station Banihal.
