Relative calm on Jammu and Kashmir borders after three days of firing

After three days of heavy firing across the border with Pakistan, it was a comparatively calmer night for thousands of border residents in the Jammu region on Sunday.

“There was calm on the international border during the night,” a police statement said, adding that the Pakistan Army fired at Indian positions in Shahpur, Manjakote and Mendhar sectors on the Line of Control during the night but after Indian positions retaliated they stopped.

Ten people including six civilians and four security personnel were killed in Pakistan firing along the international border and the LoC during the last three days.

Meanwhile, the Jammu and Kashmir Police has sounded red alert in all areas close to the border in the Jammu region.
