Repair damaged road or face agitation: NC leader warns

Senior National Conference (NC) leader of district Ramban, Vishubandu Sharma, today slammed the district administration and the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) for not repairing the damaged road stretch from Jamia Masjid to Maitra.

He warned that agitation will be launched if the road is not repaired soon.

He said that inhabitants of the town and people of adjoining villages have been demanding repairing of the road stretch since long time and have also protested over the issue “but the concerned authorities are least bothered”.

Due to negligence and unplanned excavation for erecting concrete pillars of Khow Bagh- Cafeteria Morh flyover, old alignment road of the highway, which was the only raod link between Ramban and Maitra and scores of other villages including tehsil headquarter Gool, got damaged in the month of February, the NC leaders said.

“The people are made to suffer for no fault of their own,” he said.

The NC leaders said that people have to travel more than 16 Kilometers to reach offices in district administrative complex Maitra and which takes around 2 to 3 hours.

He warned that agitation will be launched soon if the road is not repaired.
