Salesman shot dead in Downtown Srinagar

Srinagar, Nov 8: Militants on Monday evening shot dead a salesman in Bohri Kadal locality of downtown Srinagar, police said.

“Today at about 2010hrs Srinagar Police received information about a terror crime incident at Borikadal area of Srinagar. Senior police officers reached at the terror crime spot,” said a police spokesman, in a statement.

   

“Preliminary investigation has revealed that terrorists had fired upon one civilian identified as Mohammad Ibrahim Khan son of Ghulam Mohammad Khan resident of Astengoo Bandipora at Borikadal area of Srinagar.”

The spokesman said that Khan sustained critical gunshot injuries and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for the treatment where he succumbed.

“Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law. Investigation is in progress and officers continue to work to establish the circumstances which lead to this terror crime. Area has been cordoned off and search in the area is going on,” said the spokesman.

Dr Kanwaljeet Singh, medical superintendent SMHS hospital, told news agency GNS that Khan had suffered bullet injuries in his chest and abdomen. “He succumbed at the family,” said Dr Singh.
