Gunfight broke out between militants and government forces in Hajin area of north Kashmir’s Bandipora district on Thursday after the former attacked a joint search party of the police and the army.
A joint search party of army and police was fired upon by the militants soon after a search operation was launched in Parra Mohalla area of Hajin, GNS news agency quoted SSP Bandipora Sheikh Zulfikar Azad as having said.
He said the fire was retaliated, which resulted into an exchange of gunfire.
The area has been cordoned off and searches are going on, he said.
