Srinagar, Mar 31: A group of 18 aspirants for the post of Patwari from Tangdhar, Kupwara faced a challenging situation as they found themselves stranded at Sadna Pass due to heavy snowfall.
The aspirants were heading to their examination centre in Srinagar when the road through Sadna Pass became impassable due to the harsh weather conditions.
The aspirants were determined to reach their examination centre, but the inclement weather made it impossible for them to proceed.
However, their hopes were not dashed as the Police and the Army stepped in to ensure their safety and timely arrival for the examination.
Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kashmir, Vidhi Kumar Birdi directed the rescue operation, ensuring that all necessary measures were taken to rescue the stranded aspirants.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Kupwara, Shobhit Saxena said that the rescue operation was a joint effort involving the Police and the Army. “We contacted the Army, and in a joint effort, rescued the stranded aspirants,” Saxena said.
The stranded aspirants had to trek on foot through the snow-covered terrain, braving the cold and challenging conditions. However, their perseverance paid off as they were safely transported in a cab at 3 am, ensuring their timely arrival at the examination centre at Batamaloo in Srinagar.
