A 10-year-old boy was found dead inside a washroom at his home in a village here on Saturday, police said.
The deceased, identified as Mursleen Ahmad Lone, son of Riyaz Ahmad Lone, had injuries on his neck, said a police official.
The official said as per the statement of the family members, the boy committed suicide after the family refused to give him a mobile phone.
“The boy was insisting for the mobile phone which was denied by the parents. In a fit of rage, he went inside the bathroom and strangled himself with the scarf” said the police official.
The body of the deceased was later sent for postmortem. “He had two deep scars on his neck. We are investigating the matter. So far initial cause of death as per family members is suicide,” said the police official.
