SSB constable among 2 found dead

Bodies of two people, including s constable of the Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), were recovered Sunday in Ramban district, police said.
They said, “General duty constable of the 11th battalion of SSB, Dinesh Kumar, was found dead under mysterious circumstances near court complex, TCP Banihal, along the Jammu-Srinagar highway.”

Kumar, son of Bekham Lal and a resident of Paira village in Chhattisgarh, bore injury marks on the head, police said, adding that inquest proceedings have been initiated at Banihal police station to ascertain the cause behind the death.

   

According to preliminary investigation, the soldier had left Srinagar for his home on February 25.

Meanwhile, police also recovered the body of a man working with the general reserve engineering force (GREF) from a ravine near Digdool along the Jammu-Srinagar highway.

He has been identified as Surinder Paul, son of Chand and a resident of Rattangargh district, Pathankote, Punjab. His body was shifted to district hospital Ramban, where an autopsy was conducted, police said, adding that he was posted in Ramban district.

“Prima facie, it seems the man was hit by a shooting stone. However, inquest proceedings have been initiated to ascertain the cause behind the death,” station house officer, Ramban, Vijay Kotwal, said.
