Student among 3 youth booked under PSA, shifted to Jammu jail

Three youths from southern Pulwama district have been booked under Public Safety Act (PSA) and shifted to a Jammu jail.

Acting on a police dossier, the deputy commissioner Pulwama slapped the PSA on Amir Shafi Bhat (20) of Karimabad, Mohammad Shafi Mir (22) of Kharpora Sirnoo and Suhail Ahmad Wagay (23) of Sirnoo and sent them to Kotbalwal jail in Jammu.

A police officer said the three youths were detained for “their involvement in stone pelting and they were also working as over ground workers for militants.”

The families denied the police claims.

Amir is a driver while Mohammad Shafi is a labourer. Suhail is pursuing B.Sc nursing in Bangalore and returned home two months back.

Suhail’s sister told Greater Kashmir that her brother returned home to appear in an examination at SKIMS but was apprehended by the police. “Our brother was detained a month before without any reason. He is lone son in our family while as our father is bedridden for two years,” she said.

Amir’s father is suffering from a tumour and is also the lone son in the family.

The families have appealed governor administration for their immediate release.
